Your task is to develop an understanding of what a food chain is and how is works. In these two one hour technology sessions you will work with your partner to research information about food chains and create your very own food chain to present to the class. You are asked to choose an environment and corresponding animals for your food chain. You must research the consequences, or what would happen if, each of those animals were removed from the food chain at different times. Your food chain must be presented with a visual aid. It may be presented in the form of a poster, a diaramah, a mobile or another format which can be discussed with the teacher. An example is illustrated ---->
Part 1: Go the the 'Process' page of this webquest and follow the instructions in sequence. You will find web links to teach you about what a food chain is with some information explaining the different terms of language we use when talking about food chains. By the end of this first session it is expected that you will complete the short 20 question quiz on food chains and show the teacher your score for her to record. ![]() |

In your pairs create your own food chain as an example and present it visually for the class either in the form of a poster, a diaramah or another way approved by the teacher first. Your food chain must be labelled with the following: - Title; sun; producer; primary consumer; secondary consumer; and predator/tertiary consumer. You must be able to tell us what environment these animals would be found in and explain to us what would happen to the other animals if any of these animals were to be taken away. Eg, what would happen if there were no producers? What would happen if there was no predator? What would happen if there were no consumers? |
